St. Paul Bike Blog

Bikes, music, computers, comics--what else do you need?

Just made a deal for a Norco Bigfoot 6.2 fat bike from a friend of a friend. Now I just need to get my replacement road bike (and frame) built and paid for. Bikes make me almost as happy as Stephiehell.

CELEBRATING BLACK WOMEN IN ROCK AND ROLL: POLY STYRENE

British rocker Poly Styrene, born Marianne Joan Elliott-Said, formed her own punk rock band, X-ray Specs, after seeing the Sex Pistols perform live at the Pier Pavillion on her 19th birthday. Before that, she had been dabbling in the art, recording demos with producer Ted Bunting and releasing her first single, a reggae tune called “Silly Billy”. After creating X-ray Specs, where she sang lead vocals, she began her feminist punk movement and opposed the male expectations of what a female rock star in the 70s should be.

The first time I saw the Ramones was in St. Paul MN, 1978. They opened for Foreigner at a sold out St. Paul Civic Center. They got booed off the stage…the best band in the world…BOOED! I hated every single mofo in that f*ing arena. I wish I could find that photo of Johnny Ramone giving the crowd the finger.

Update-Found the photo I mentioned
