Kurt and Krist sleeping on Sluggo’s floor after a Boston show in ‘89 shortly before they became famous. JJ Gonson took the photo. No clue where Jason Everman and some drummer from the Melvins were sleeping.

I found a source for some PD-64 cleats for my Dura-Ace 7400 pedals (a fave of track racers in the ’90s) mine have custom made 2 strap clips. I have a spare Suntour Superbe Pro 165mm crankset if anyone needs them.

Winter commuter drive train overhaul starts tomorrow (the Sugino box is the d-600 crankset 46-36-26) . JIS UN-54 BB, stem, h-bars, cables (brake and shifter) and grips not shown. Sticking with my old Shimano XT 7/8 speed thumbshifters/drivetrain allows me to switch to friction shifting should I mess up my derailleurs and keeps the price on new parts low, which is huge since I actually have to pay for them now. The toughest thing may be cleaning the grime off my bike.

Seriously…

…if you mention any sleep disorder you might be suffering from I am going to give you an ear/eye full. My sleep doctor, Dr. Mark Mahowald, discovered REM sleep. Due to curiosity of sleep disorders, due to my own, I went to MCTC to get certification as a sleep tech (the only place in the U.S. you could get this). You would be completely amazed by how much we can tell about you by reading your ECG and EKG’s while you sleep…and you really don’t want to know what you are physically do while sleeping. I do guarantee that a sleep study may be the best medical test you will ever take.

Best bike shoes I have ever owned. No Vaypors in stock at the Omnium in my size but a little fiberglass doesn’t hurt. Heat formation of the sole completely works. Speedplay Zero, enough said.

Great show! The Funseekers killed it in their 2nd to last show. The other guys were kind of good too. Misery was our first choice for local talent but they were on the road. Keith Patterson’s surf punk genius worked out well. We had a Basil Wolverton foundation approved 3’x2’ poster for this show but none of us thought about curating fliers/posters for posterity. Every one of them may have meant one more person attending our shows.

Good article in Road Bike Action this month. I have to admit I am going to be a bike commuter doper. It’s not illegal, it’s just oxygen in a can. I have two very long steep hills at the beginning of my rides in either direction. I am old, I just want to make it to the top with a little energy to spare.

It’s not that I’m into the whole “a clean bike is a fast bike” idea. It’s more like I have OCD.

I love Scott bikes!

After a horrible injury to my knee winter cycling a few weeks ago I now acknowledge my limitations.
